PANJIM: The Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (GBSHSE) is set to declare the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results, based on the internal assessment conducted by the schools, on July 13.
The evaluation of the students will be based on the marks scored in the different exams for the academic year 2020-21 and performance of Class IX.
In a circular issued to all the Schools on Tuesday, the Goa Board has said that any candidate who is not satisfied with the marks allocated will be given an opportunity to appear in an exam as and when the conditions are conducive to hold the exams either conducted by the Board or concerned school.
The policy document on tabulation of marks for Class X board exams 2021 is circulated to the schools and the training in this regard is been scheduled on June 2-3.
Speaking to Herald, GBSHSE chairman Bhagirath Shetye said that the Board will declare the final result of Class X on July 13. “The schools are directed to submit the marks based on internal assessment by June 26 to the Board,” he said.
Shetye said that the students will be assessed out of maximum 100 marks for each subject and as the policy of the Board, 20 marks are for Internal Assessment and the same is been submitted by the schools till May 15.
“The assessment of 80 marks will be done by the schools based on the marks scored by the candidate in the different tests or exams conducted by the school during the academic year and the performance of the school in Class IX,” he explained.
The schools carry out unit test, mid-yearly exams and preliminary examination for Class X, before the public exams are scheduled.
Nearly 24,900 students were due to answer their Board exams, which had to be cancelled in view of ongoing COVID pandemic.
The Chairman said that the Board will follow its policy of awarding the Sports Merit marks and the condonation marks while preparing the final result. “The process of verification of marks and re-evaluation scheme will not be applicable, since the results are based on internal assessment,” he said.
The Board has directed the Schools to put in place a Result Committee by June 2, that will consisting of Principal and seven teachers — each of Mathematics, Science, Social Science, two language subject and two co-opted teachers from the neighbouring schools, under same management.
Shetye said that the schools will conduct an objective type offline/online Supplementary Examination based on the Sample Question papers provided by the Board for those students whose overall result is with the remark ‘need improvement’. He said that all unsuccessful regular candidates and regular candidates who were unable to appear for main examination are also eligible for supplementary examination.
