Panjim: Against the backdrop, of the controversy surrounding the Class X English paper, Congress on Tuesday, demanded that the State government’s introspects on the prevailing condition of the deteriorating standard of education, coupled with rising unemployment and corruption.

Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) secretary Amarnath Panjikar said the question, which appeared in the Class X English question paper is a clear reflection of the current situation in Goa under the BJP regime that has been marked with corruption and unemployment.

“The government needs to introspect on the prevailing condition of education, economy and ethics rather than getting into political opportunism by connecting it to nationalism,” he said.

Claiming that the duty of every teacher is to speak the truth and teach the students to remain honest, truthful and faithful throughout their career; Panjikar said that the truth, which has come out in the question paper has created political inconvenience to the local BJP.

“It is a reality that the faulty decisions by the BJP government since 2012, has pushed Goa into financial emergency with loss of jobs, declining educational standard and growing cases of corruption. The government should take lesson from this episode and take corrective steps,” he stated.
