PANJIM: Students who failed to clear their SSC exam in 2013-14 and again failed in March 2015, will be allowed to answer the supplementary exam provided they have to appear in a maximum of two subjects. The announcement comes following queries from several high schools whether such students will be eligible to answer the supplementary exam scheduled on June 24.
“The schools are uncertain if repeaters can take up the supplementary exam since only fresh candidates, who failed in one or two subjects are allowed to do so. We have always said that repeaters can also appear provided they have not failed in more than two subjects,” a Goa Board official said.
The last date for filling the forms is June 18. Goa Board is introducing supplementary exams for SSC students and doing away with the ATKT system.
“This will allow students to concentrate on subjects they will re-appear for instead of shouldering the additional burden of higher secondary studies pending the ATKT attempt. It has been observed that a majority of ATKT students taking admissions for Class XI and at the same time preparing to answer the October or March examinations (under the ATKT rule), still fail. Once promoted, they not only have the burden of the subjects of Class XI, they also have to prepare for the subjects they had failed in SSC. Since they are unable to cope, they fail the ATKT as well,” Board chairman Jose Remedios Rebello had told Herald, last month.
Goa Board will also conduct supplementary exams for HSSC students from June 15.
