PANJIM: The success celebration at her home continued overnight with her proud parents accepting wishes from visitors and responding to end number of calls.
Vedita Kamat topped SSC examinations with 97 percent with sheer will power and unflinching determination. A student of Dr K B Hedgewar School, she aspires to be an aeronautical engineer. Interestingly, the school achieved cent percent results for the ninth consecutive year.
Not surprising, her favourite subjects are Science and Mathematics in which she scored a full 100 marks each. The second highest 99 marks she scored in social science.
“I had prepared myself. I wanted to be a top ranker in the State devoting 4-5 continuous hours to studies,” she said speaking to Herald. She now wants to join PACE Institute in Miramar where she would prepare herself for IIT.
“I am all set to prepare myself for the toughest exams in the country. I want to get into IIT,” she added amidst people congratulating her for the success.
Not forgetting to thank her parents, teachers and management of the school, Kamat reiterated her ambition to become a successful professional making her near and dear ones proud.
Incidentally, she comes from the school that has achieved a remarkable success, all thanks to the disciplined students and the cooperative staff.
School Principal Vilas Satarkar has attributed the success to team effort. “It is a team effort of students, teaching and non-teaching staff and management. We give attention to every student. Moreover, discipline among students to follow the time-table besides other study materials, has helped,” he said.
What’s interesting is that while they conduct remedial classes for weak students, extra efforts are made to elevate the ranks of even good students. “If a student gets 90 percent, we have separate classes for this batch of students to get higher percentage. Likewise, it is the same for other student also. Those who are in pass class, we encourage them to study to bring them to second class or first class,” he said. The students don’t mind attending classes till 6 pm with they being allowed to participate in extra curriculum activities also.
