PANJIM: Upset that there still remain several issuing plaguing St Cruz village, the residents have joined hands to form a forum called ‘V for Santa Cruz’ to find solutions to the problems.
In the past 35 years, there has been no development in the village. The panchayat, without the knowledge and advice of the villagers, is carrying out projects which are not in the interest of the villagers and the village,” forum coordinator Arthuro D’Souza said on Thursday.
The garbage issue was discussed at length wherein villagers alleged that the panchayat did not take an initiative to tackle the problem. They slammed the panchayat for raising only those issues during the meetings ‘that mattered to them and not the public’. The issue of the Bondvol lake built by the ancestors of the villagers, one of them said, is being interrupted by politicians of the village to sabotage it.
Forum member Naresh D’Souza highlighted rampant illegalities by several structures with authorities failing to take action.
V for Santa Cruz members said they will continue to be a watch dog of any anti-people activities and will expose the misdeeds of the local administration and the politicians who are trying to work against the will of the people of Santa Cruz.
