PANJIM: St Cruz MLA Antonio Fernandes has assured to allot shops to the displaced vendors of Bambolim within 2-3 days. The aggrieved vendors, whose stalls were demolished outside Goa Medical College (GMC) last month, met the local MLA on Tuesday in yet another attempt to find relief to their problem.
“We will allot shops to all vendors whose stalls were demolished outside the GMC within 2-3 days. I have called up the Collector and asked him to hold a meeting with the GMC officials along with the MLAs and sarpanches to chalk out rehabilitation plan,” he said.
Fernandes said he has explained the highway plan to the CM and highlighted areas where the vendors could be rehabilitated. The delegation led by St Cruz activist Inacio Domnic Pereira demanded to rehabilitate the vendors without further delay. He stated that the vndors need an exact deadline for their rehabilitation failing which they will protest at Azad Maidan.
Several kiosks set up outside the hospital were demolished following orders from the COlelctor citing these were illegal and encroaching on the road.
