St Cruz, St Andre MLAs assert they are with the people

Say they will see to it that villages from their constituencies are dropped from the GPPDA

PANJIM: MALs from St Andre and St Cruz MLAs said that the protest against the GPPDA that started from their villages has spread across North Goa with a demand to scrap all PDAs, and people cannot blame them for this. They said they will see to it that villages from their constituencies will be dropped from the PDAs.
“I am with the people of my constituency and I will see that all my villages will be out of the PDA,” St Andre MLA Francis Silveira said.
He said that scrapping of other PDAs is a wider issue that has to be dealt with by the government. “People of my constituency are all aware and they will not fall prey to manipulated political tactics to target me unnecessarily,” he said.
St Cruz MLA Antonio (Tony) Fernandes also said that he is with the villagers and he will see that the villages from his constituency are dropped from the Greater Panjim PDA. “I don’t want to say much; people are not fools; I am with the people and I will be with the people. I am sure that as assured by the TCP Minister our villages will be removed from the GPPDA,” he said.
Both MLAs were targeted in speeches by speakers at the protest against PDAs in Panjim on Friday. Allegations have also been made against them for conniving with the government in support of PDAs.
