STA meet postponed

The meeting of the State Transport Authority which to decide on increasing the number of seats reserved for women scheduled for Friday was postponed to March 5.

PANJIM: The meeting of the State Transport Authority which to decide on increasing the number of seats reserved for women scheduled for Friday was postponed to March 5. 

According to Director of Transport Arun Dessai, midi buses currently have eight reserved seats — four for ladies and two each for persons with disabilities and senior citizens. This is proposed to be increased to 12 with the number of seats for ladies going up to eight and two each for the other categories. 

For big buses, the current number of reserved seats is twelve — six for ladies and three each for the other reserved categories that is now proposed to be increased to 18 — with 12 reserved for ladies.
