Stabbing accused sent to Apna Ghar

Police yet to recover weapon used for committing the offence

PONDA: After conducting an investigation, Ponda police have sent the XIth standard student, who stabbed a XIIth standard student at Farmagudi bus stop to Apna Ghar remand home.
Police have registered the offence as attempt-to-murder and the trial would run in the Juvenile Court, after the investigation.
Though the accused student suspected to have used a sharp object for stabbing the victim, police could not recover anything from the spot, even though they launched a combing operation.
They suspect that the sharp object might be a knife or dissection blade, as the boy claimed it as a dissection blade that he used to attack his senior student.
Police have confirmed that the boy has confessed that he stabbed the senior student in fit of rage.
The stabbing incident took place at the bus stop located outside the college premises on National Highway at Farmagudi on Thursday afternoon.
The victim and four other students were waiting for the bus towards Veling Priol to return home.
The assailant from upper Bazaar Ponda was coming out of the college towards the bus stop, when an altercation ensued and soon he attacked the other, stabbing twice, before fleeing from the spot.
The management of the Higher Secondary School expressed innocence over the issue, saying they had no idea about the incident and denied knowing about the acrimonious relations between the two.
Locals in Ponds were quick to emphasise that the use of mobile phones in schools should be banned during school hours.
