Stabbing at Indiana Gym: 24-Year-Old Arrested for Attack on Indian Student

In a disturbing turn of events in Valparaiso, Indiana, a 24-year-old man, Jordan Andrade, has been arrested and is now facing charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and attempted murder. The incident unfolded at a public gym, where Andrade allegedly stabbed Varun, an Indian student studying in the US, in the head inside a massage room.

The motive behind this horrifying attack was a fear harboured by Andrade, who claimed that he believed Varun was “creepy” and “threatening” and had an irrational fear that Varun would “assassinate him.” The shocking incident has left the community in disbelief.

The assault took place at the gym in Valparaiso, and Andrade was promptly detained by authorities on the scene. Meanwhile, Varun’s injuries were so severe that he had to be admitted to a Fort Wayne hospital, where his chances of survival were reported to be between zero and 5%.

When questioned by the police, Andrade maintained that Varun never posed a threat and had not initiated any physical contact. According to Andrade, the only physical interaction occurred when Varun attempted to defend himself from the sudden and unprovoked assault.

In a chilling revelation, Andrade admitted to the police that he had used a knife and had stabbed Varun in the head. He stated, “Uh, I just put it through. I don’t even want to say it. It was in his head.” He asserted that he had acted in self-defence against Varun and had used the knife to protect himself.

Witnesses at the gym described Varun as someone who typically kept to himself, maintaining a quiet and reserved demeanour. The motive behind the attack and the severity of Varun’s injuries have left the community shocked and alarmed.

As the legal proceedings continue, the Valparaiso community is left grappling with the aftermath of this horrifying incident, while Varun’s recovery remains uncertain.
