PORVORIM: Flaying government for failures on various fronts, Goa Forward Party (GFP) president and Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai on Tuesday demanded that the State Staff Selection Commission should be headed by a retired High Court judge and not any politician or bureaucrat.
Speaking on the Governor’s address to the Assembly, Sardesai continued to list out the Government’s failure on administration, financial status, Mhadei, Mining, employment, ease of doing business.
“The unemployment is at its peak and the Chief Minister announced that 5,000 jobs would be created soon but I am suspicious this is another jumla and being done in wake of the Zilla panchayat polls,” he said.
Hence, he continued, “We demand that the staff selection commission be headed by a High Court Judge so that Goa does not further fall in the debt trap.
“We do not trust this government anymore,” he said.
Speaking further, Sardesai sought to know the details of the memorandum given by Goa government to the Fifteen Finance Commission members who had visited Goa recently.
“There are news reports that Goa is facing a fiscal trap. State is facing a liquidity crisis. We are being given different figures on the borrowings,” he said.
Sardesai claimed that the Governor’s speech has “wrong figures” on GST front and revenue collection.
The GFP leader said that the growth is declining in the State and all the symptoms indicate that the State is “sinking”.
“We are not going forward, you all are sinking the State,” he added.
Sardesai charged that the Centre does not even care about Goa leaders.
“The CM submitted a memorandum to Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with tweets but there was not even a small mention of Goa in the Budget speech, forget about giving (Goa) anything. She in fact reduced Goa’s compensation,” he said.
Speaking on budget Sardesai said, “The government has 27 MLAs but the incompetency is at its peak. BJP Minister Michael Lobo himself admits that there is inefficiency. Goa is watching you,” he said adding that Dunning Kruger Effect is “superiority complex born out of incompetence.”
