Staffer files stalking complaint against Director of Civil Supplies

In her complaint, she alleged that earlier the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Gopal Parsekar had “harassed and bullied” her for no reason and had also instigated her to “commit suicide”.

PANJIM: A complaint has been filed before Panjim police against Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Gopal Parsekar for allegedly “stalking and harassing” an employee of the department.

The victim in her written complaint has alleged that on Thursday afternoon Parsekar clicked her pictures on his cellphone and also attempted to assault her in the department at Junta House in the city.

She then dialed the police control room seeking help, three police personnel including one lady police constable visited the department. The police personnel spoke to the victim and Parsekar in the department and later asked the victim to file a written complaint before the Women’s Police Station.

The victim reached the Women’s Police Station at around 3 pm, however she was made to sit till 6 pm and later asked to approach the Panjim Police Station as the call made by her seeking help was to the police control room.

Following the instructions of the Women’s Police Station, she then submitted a written complaint against Gopal Parsekar before the Panjim Police Station.

In her complaint, she alleged that earlier Parsekar had “harassed and bullied” her for no reason and had also instigated her to “commit suicide”.

When contacted, Parsekar said he was not aware of any complaint against him.

“If police complaint has been filed then the police will know. You ask the police,” Parsekar said.

Till late evening on Thursday, no FIR was registered against Parsekar by the Panjim police. 

“We have received a complaint against the Director of Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs. We are investigating and we will take legal action,” North Goa Superintendent of Police Nidhin Valsan said.
