While the stalls along the Swantantra Path and Padre Jose Vaz roads continued doing business till late Monday night, the furniture stalls removed their temporary sheds on Tuesday evening, but they were seen continuing with their business.
When contacted, South Goa Collector Venancio Furtado said he had directed MMC Chief Officer Meghnath Porob to inform the hawkers to demolish their stalls by Sunday midnight, failing which Porob should have taken the help of police and demolished all the stalls on Monday morning. It was only in the later half of Monday afternoon that Porob along with MMC staff and some police personnel were seen directing the hawkers to demolish their stalls. However, Porob failed to demolish the furniture stalls on Monday. Though the hawkers along the Padre Jose Vaz road and Swantantra Path road removed their structures, they were seen carrying out their business as usual till late Monday night and the furniture stalls continued to do business even on Tuesday evening.
