Despite the completion and submission of the committee’s detailed report, the government has yet to make it public, sparking widespread speculation about potential attempts to dilute its findings. The inquiry involved extensive site visits, interviews with affected families, and testimonies from key personnel, including temple authorities. Although some senior officials have been transferred, questions remain about whether deeper accountability will be enforced.
Political opposition, led by the Goa Forward Party, has criticized the government’s delay in releasing the report, alleging a deliberate cover-up to shield influential officials. They have demanded full transparency and swift action to ensure justice for the victims. The Chief Minister’s Office has responded by stating that the report is still under review, with a statement from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant anticipated soon. However, growing public pressure and accusations of lobbying to soften the report’s conclusions have intensified demands for systemic reforms to prevent future tragedies at large public gatherings.
