PANJIM: With the surge of COVID positive cases and deaths in the State, Aam Aadmi Party on Friday appealed to the State government to immediately start vaccinating above the age of 18 years old instead of waiting till May 1, to start the programme.
AAP Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre pointed out that in the last three days more than 4,000 people have tested positive for COVID infection and given the fact that the government has to trace and test the people who have been in close proximity to those who tested positive, the number of people to be tested works out to around 20,000 per day.
Given the fact that home isolation is a norm, Rahul demanded that the government provide isolation facilities by hiring banquet halls and other places so that the people who cannot isolate themselves at home can be provided with isolation facilities. He also demanded that the isolation kit must be handed over to the patient immediately after he or she tests positive for COVID as even a delay of one day could be crucial as person can succumb to COVID.
“The argument that economic activity cannot be stopped is shallow as protecting the live of Goans ought to be the first priority,” he added.
Rahul pointed out that the casinos and night clubs are the hotspots for spreading COVID and demanded that the government immediately stop the casinos and night club activities.
