PANJIM: In a major relief to airlines operators, the State government on Monday reduced Valued Added Tax (VAT) on Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF) from 18 per cent to 8 per cent per kilo-litre.
A notification issued by the Department of Finance (Revenue and Control) said that the VAT on Aviation Turbine Fuel will be 8 per cent.
This notification will come into force with effect from January 3, 2023.
According to information, very few airlines were refuelling at the current Dabolim international airport and with the reduction in VAT, the government is expecting more flights to refuel and help in boosting civil aviation activities in the State.
In October last year, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia had urged eight States including Goa and Union Territories (UTs) charging high tax on aviation fuel to join 26 other States that had steeply brought down the tax between 1 and 4 per cent, to proliferate civil aviation activities.
