PANJIM: Goa’s dedication to inclusion shone through as Goa State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities Guruprasad Pawaskar and its secretary Taha Haaziq, won the National Award for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for the year 2023.
The National Awards for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities for 2023 will be presented by President of India, Droupadi Murmu at New Delhi on December 3. Pawaskar was adjudged as the Best State Commissioner under the ‘Divyangjano Ke Adhikar Adhiniyam 2016, Ke Apne Rajya Mein Karyanvayan Mein Sarvashreshtha Rajya Aayukta Divyangjan Category.’ Simultaneously, Haaziq, has bagged the National Award in the ‘Sarvashreshtha Divyangjan’ category.
Expressing joy and gratitude to the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (Divyangjan), Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Pawaskar and Haaziq attribute their success to the unwavering support of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Social Welfare Minister Subhash Phal Dessai.
