PANJIM: The State machinery as well as Goa Airport has been geared up to handle any cases of Monkeypox as per directions of the Government of India, informed Integrated Disease Surveillance Project In-Charge and State Epidemiologist Prashant Suryavanshi on Tuesday.
Suryavanshi said that though no case has been detected in Goa, two isolation beds have been reserved in each of the District and Sub-District hospitals, Chicalim Hospital and the Primary Health Centre at Cansaulim to isolate suspects and cases of Monkeypox if any.
“If any international traveller reports symptoms identical to Monkeypox, the person would be put under isolation as a suspected case of the virus. Samples of the patient will be sent to the National Institute of Virology laboratory, Pune for testing,” he informed.
