NEW DELHI: The Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ministry on Saturday Gazetted a three-member State-level environment authority for Goa and a 10-member State-level Expert Appraisal Committee (SEAC) to assist it.
Prof Suhas Jagannath Godse of Taleigao heads the assessment authority with State Environment Director as its secretary and Reshma Mathew of Fatorda as its member. Both the authority and the SEAC will have a term of three years, drawing sitting fee, travelling and dearness allowances as per the Goa government’s rules.

The notification makes it clear that those nominated should recuse from the meetings during the process of appraisal of any project if they had provided in the past five years consultancy services or conducted EIA studies for the proponent of any such project.
Members of the SEAC are: Gautam Vikas Desai of Margao, Associate Professor Dr Mahesh Dhawalikar of Goa College of Engineering, Associate Professor Dr Subhash Bhosale of Zoology Department of Ponda Education Society’s College, Dr Benjamin Braganca, former director, Goa Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, Dr Dipal C S Gaitonde, Head of Department of Humanities and Science in Government Polytechnic, Panjim; Prof Chandrashekhar Rivonkar, Department of Marine Science, Goa University; Mahesh K Patil, Director Lead India, Sujeetkumar M Dongre of Centre for Environment Education, Sanjay Amonkar, former joint General Manager of Zuari Agro Chemicals Ltd, and the environment engineer of the Goa State Pollution Control Board.
