Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Monday announced a 20 per cent rise in the basic salary for health workers directly involved in treating COVID patients.
The CM said that the Cabinet has decided on a hike for doctors, staff, sweepers, and that all, including contract workers, ambulance drivers, working in connection with COVID, will be covered. He also announced that the insurance scheme of Rs 50 lakh is not just for doctors and nurses but also the sweeping staff and security. “The insurance is for all those involved with quarantine facilities,” he said. Besides this, Sawant said the Health Department has requisitioned hotels for GMC staff, who are treating COVID patients.
