PANJIM: State government organised a restricted celebration of the 130th birth anniversary of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar in Panjim, due to the COVID pandemic.
While this was the official function, there were several other programmes organised across the State to commemorate the occasion.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar and paid rich tributes to the country’s visionary leader and architect of the constitution of India. Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar and Tribal Welfare Minister Govind Gaude were also present.
The CM also said that the government is trying to reach out to all sections of society, especially the disadvantaged, who may not have received adequate government support in terms of schemes and amenities.
He also spoke of carrying forward Ambedkar’s philosophy and that the government is still trying to find land for the construction of the Ambedkar Bhavan
