Office assures that Parrikar will return in 7 days

PANJIM: Barely a week after his return from US, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar was to fly back to New York on Thursday morning for further treatment following complications in his health. The Chief Minister was being treated at Lilavati Hospital Mumbai.
The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) confirmed the development in a message circulated to the media that said, “Chief Minister Shri Manohar Parrikar will be travelling to USA for a follow up medical checkup. The Chief Minister is expected to be back in Goa next week.” The message was signed by his Personal Secretary Rupesh Kamat.
This was also confirmed by Speaker Pramod Sawant. Assuring that the CM’s condition is stable and he is likely to be back within a week, Sawant said, “Some complications have developed due to which Parrikar is going to the US for treatment.” Sawant also said there is no need to hand over charge of the CM’s post to anyone else.
Parrikar who arrived in Goa last Wednesday had to be flown to Mumbai for treatment the next day and was admitted in Lilavati Hospital. Parrikar, who was expected to return on Wednesday, instead flew to USA for his treatment.
Sources revealed that the chief minister spoke to every minister about his visit to the US for a check-up.
He is not the only minister currently ill. Senior minister Francis D’Souza and another Cabinet member Pandurang Madkaikar are also absent from work following sickness. Sources reveal that D’Souza is in US for treatment while Madkaikar has returned to Goa following surgery in Mumbai.
