State sees dip in new infections after witnessing record spike

PANJIM: A day after witnessing a record 582 spike in daily COVID-19 cases, Goa on Friday saw a dip in new infections. The State reported 428 new cases in last 24 –hours. 

The COVID-19 cases are surging in the State with 1,537 new cases and seven related fatalities being reported in last three days. 

In just nine days, the April month has recorded whopping 3,200 cases, which means on an average 355.5 new infections, per day. The month has also reported 15 COVID related fatalities while 1,144 patients have also been recovered. 

Even with the dip in daily-new cases, the State active case tally has reached to 3,597. As per the Health Bulletin issued, of the total 2,761 samples tested, 428 have tested positive for the infection.

The recovery rate has continue to fall drastically from 98 per cent in January to 92.74 per cent as on Friday — the day that saw 159 patients being declared cured. Since January 29, till date, the State has total 61,239 confirmed COVID-19 cases. 

A total of 56,797 patients have also recovered during the period, while 845, with co-morbid conditions, have lost their lives due to the deadly infection.
