State signs MoU for providing German vocational training

PANJIM:Siemens Ltd and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, “GIZ India” have signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding with Directorate of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (DSDE).

The MoU aims at carrying out a skill development initiative that will address the pressing need of training and enabling India’s youth for employment, entrepreneurship and community enterprise. The training will be deployed under “IGnITE – Indo-German Initiative for Technical Education” in government ITIs  to provide world-class German Dual VET (Vocational Education & Training) methodology.

The IGnITE pedagogy covers the two years of the CTS courses namely Electrician, Electronics Mechanic, Fitter, Turner and Machinist Trade trainees inducted from August 2020 to July 2024 and also ensure in-plant training of the trainees in the local industry for hands-on training.

It will also ensure intensive training of Instructors on pedagogy and hand-holding throughout the duration.

This initiative will ensure optimal upskilling of the ITI graduates, including green skilling at par with the latest technological developments in the industry thereby remarkably enhancing the employability of ITI graduates.

Skill Development Minister, Vishwajit Rane said, “Through this MoU, we will be imparting world-class knowledge to our trainers and students through a different methodology. This unique approach to education will help them gain the required industry exposure and make them employable, not only in Goa but across the globe. The objective is to provide quality education to ensure optimal upskilling of the ITI graduates and be an example for other states and countries to follow.”
