PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant said the government has decided to ease the process of granting permissions to laterite, sand murmur and minor minerals.
The decision comes following shortage of sand and laterite stone for the construction industry as well as demands from the businesses. Taking to social media, Sawant announced this after meeting Advocate General Devidas Pangam, Director and Secretary of Directorate of Mines and Geology.
“It has been decided to streamline and ease the process of granting permission for laterite, sand, murrum and minor minerals. Minor minerals have also been brought out of the ambit of TCP Act. This move will help curbing the acts of illegal extraction/transportation of such minerals,” Sawant said.
The Chief Minister has also appealed to the concerned stakeholders to make formal application to the Director of Mines, Government of Goa, for carrying out minor mineral activities.
