State to get Super Specialty Block at GMC by Sept end

PANJIM: The new Rs 350 crore Super Specialty Block at Goa Medical College and Hospital is nearing completion and will be handed over to the State government by September end.

Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajit Rane conducted a joint meeting over the building work’s completion. 

“Visited and reviewed the progress of Super Specialty Block at Goa Medical College and Hospital along with Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, built under Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. The project will strengthen our healthcare infrastructure, and is expected to be completed soon,” Sawant tweeted.

Rane said, “Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Ltd shall be handing over the project to the State government by September 30, to begin commissioning the same. Our aim is to start operations at the Super Specialty Block at the earliest to provide state-of-art health facilities and infrastructure to the people of Goa.”

The 500-bed super specialty facility, being built under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY), will be inaugurated by the end of this year.

The Union government’s Hospital Services Consultancy Corporation Ltd is executing the project.
