State to present tableau at R-Day parade in Delhi

PANJIM: The State of Goa will present its tableau at Republic Day parade in New Delhi on January 26 along with 12 other states.

The Tableau of Goa is designed on the theme of significant monuments and cultural treasurers of Goa and will depict symbols of Goan heritage, Aguada fort, martyrs memorial at Azad Maidan, Dona Paula, IFFI, Shigmo festival and Kunbi folk dance.

The tableau is designed by Sushant Khedekar from Varkhande-Ponda, whose design was forwarded by the State Committee to the Ministry of Defence to place it before the Expert Committee for final selection.

It is to be noted that the work of fabrication of Goa tableau was started at Rashtriya Rangshala Camp in New Delhi on January 5, 2022. A team of 25 Artisans from Goa who are camping in New Delhi are engaged in construction of tableau and to complete the work of structure, fabrication, sculpture, carpentry, woodworks and painting.

So far over 90 per cent work of Goa tableau has been completed in spite of inclement weather and intermittent rains in Delhi and the team led by Khedekar is working round the clock to see that the Tableau of Goa is fully ready in all aspects before full dress rehearsal scheduled in Delhi on January 23. In addition to this, there are 18 traditional performing artistes from various parts of Goa.
