PANJIM: As several parts of Goa received light to moderate unseasonal rainfall on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more showers for the coastal State in the coming days from March 23.
Though a rare cyclone ‘Asani’ looms over the Bay of Bengal, it is unlikely to have any significant impact on Goa. However, likely formation of a trough near Goa region is expected to bring rains for the State.
IMD Goa incharge Rahul said the existing depression over Bay of Bengal is likely to move forward as deep depression in 24 hours and possible cyclone formation in 36 hours.
“It is not going to have any significant impact on the State weather,” he explained.
Rahul said because of the formation of a circulation near Goa region by March 23, light rainfall activity at isolated places is likely again for two-three days in the coming mid-week.
