PANJIM: Following the complaints of illegalities by pre-primary schools in form of demand for donations, the State government has decided to regulate the pre-primary schools as per the Goa Education Act and Rules.
The decision was taken at the meeting chaired by Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant with the officials of Education Department at Secretariat, on Monday.
Besides, regulating the pre-primary schools, the meeting also decided to increase the remuneration of the part-time instructors under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) to Rs 22,000 as compared to Rs 16,000 per month earlier.
Also, the remuneration of the lecture basis teachers teaching in Government High Schools and Government Higher Secondary Schools for the past five years has been enhanced to Rs 25,000.
“The remuneration of the vocational teachers enhanced to Rs 25,000. The vocational teachers in aided schools will be known only as contract basis vocational teachers only, the nomenclature of full-time contract basis, double part-time and single part-time etc has been removed,” said the Chief Minister Office press release.
Further, the release said the meeting decided to form a committee for ascertaining the vertical mobility of the vocational courses comprising of Directorate of Education (DoE), Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) and Directorate of Higher Education (DHE).
“The Recruitment Rules for government jobs where changes can be made to accommodate the Vocational students will be examined,” it said.
Further, it was decided that additional divisions in excess of that permitted in the vocational scheme will not be allowed and schools running more than three vocational courses will not be permitted to run the extra courses.
“Aided Primary schools will be covered under the maintenance grants instead of the existing scheme of Rs 400 per child per month,” the CMO said.
