State to start free screening for cervical cancer

The State government will soon start free screening for women in four talukas for cervical cancer.

PANJIM: The State government will soon start free screening for women in four talukas for cervical cancer, which is the fourth most common cancer among women across the globe.   

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that as part of the pilot project, the government will start free of cost screening for women in four talukas viz Sattari, Sanguem, Canacona and Pernem. 

“I am grateful to GE Healthcare and Karkinos for their support in initiating the same”, he added.   

“Cervical cancer is the fourth most common cancer among women globally. Cervical cancer, if diagnosed at an early stage can be cured and treated promptly,” the Minister said.
