CALANGUTE: Calangute MLA and Waste Management Minister Michael Lobo on Monday inaugurated the upgraded Tito’s lane at Baga as State’s first smart street.
The initiative has been taken up as CSR activity by Shankh Creations in collaboration with the Calangute Panchayat.
Former sarpanch Shawn Martins informed that the 300-metre lane has been upgraded with ambient lighting. In addition, digital boards have been installed which will be used as source of publicity to local businesses during festivals.
Martins further informed that the main feature is CCTV surveillance on every alternate pole with fifteen high resolution cameras with movable lenses which are connected to internet to maintain safety and security.
He said free Wi-Fi facilities have been made available for the tourists visiting the street along with solar blinkers, reflectors in the middle of the street, etc.
