MARGAO: The Gandhi market vendors Association on Thursday claimed that the Margao Municipal chief officer has assured them that he would crack the whip against illegal vendors who enact business along the Station road in the morning, afternoon and late evening.
The Association said that the MMC CO has assured to take up on priority, the work of sprucing up the public toilet in the congested Gandhi market.
After a meeting with the Municipal chief officer, leader of the Gandhi market readymade, vegetable and fruit vendors, Babu Azgaonkar, told the media that the chief officer has promised action against vendors selling fruits and vegetables along the Station road early in the morning, in the afternoon and late evening. “We had complained that illegal vendors make their presence felt along the Station road before and after office hours, thereby affecting the business of the vendors in the Gandhi market. The chief officer has promised to constitute a squad to deal with the situation,” Azgaonkar said.
