PANJIM: On the occasion of 277th death anniversary of Fr Jacome Gonsalves the missionary priest in Sri Lanka, statues of St Joseph Vaz and Fr Jacome Gonsalves were installed in front of Our Lady of Piedade Church, Divar on Sunday.
Parish Priest Fr Jose Dias blessed the statue of St Joseph Vaz and incensed the statue of Fr Jacome Gonsalves.
Also on the occasion, Fr Jose laid the foundation for the prayer room for the parishioners of Divar.
Earlier to commemorate the death anniversary, Fr Jose along with Fr Eremito Rebello, Fr Oliver Fernandes, Fr Noel Menezes and Fr Rui Heredia celebrated the Eucharist.
In his homily, Fr Eremito spoke about the missionary life of Fr Jacome in Sri Lanka. Fr Jose in the end thank the well wishers, donors and Manuel Azavedo, Camilo D’Sa, Freddy Ferrao for monitoring the entire installation work.
