Stay in touch with students through electronic media: Education dept to schools

Institutions also instructed to ask its employees to resume duty from April 15, on alternate basis

PANJIM: With dates for Class X board examinations yet to be decided, the Education Department has asked schools to remain in touch with the students, through electronic media, to provide guidance and prepare them for the upcoming exams.

In the view of the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and the nationwide lockdown, the examination for Secondary School Certificate (SSC), scheduled from April 2, were postponed.

“As the students, who will appear for the said examination will be in a state of dilemma due to postponement of the exams, they need to be supported by their parents as well as their teachers,” Deputy Director Education Shailesh Sinai Zingde said in the circular issued to Heads of the Institutions on Monday.

Therefore, Zingde said  the heads of the institutions shall ensure that Class X teachers, who have taught these students, remain in constant touch with the students through electronic media as per their convenience and provide them proper guidance, whenever required so that the students are at ease and are also prepared for the exams.

Meanwhile, the dept has asked the institutions to ask its employees to resume duty from April 15, on alternate basis. As per the order , Heads of Institutions have been asked to ensure that the employees are called to office on alternate basis so that not more than 50 per cent strength of the employees attend office of the particular day and remaining shall work from home.

 The employees on duty are to be staggered into 3 groups. Social distancing also has to be maintained at work place. Employees should be encouraged to use masks while travelling in public transport at the workplace.

However, those staff members who have symptoms like cough, cold, fever or short of breath, etc should stay at home and seek medical help.
