HERALD REPORTER
PANJIM, MAY 13
Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education
has appointed a reviewer to review the Std VII National
Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT)
textbook in view of strong objections raised over its
contents by parents and teachers.
The Hindu Janajagruti Samiti had also ridiculed the
contents of the text book stating the same glorified foreign
history and devoted very less space to Indian history.
Sources disclosed that the review report should be out
within a week after which the Board would see how best it
could delete the objectionable contents from the Std VII
History textbook.
Meanwhile, a report of the GBSHSE appointed committee on
the Std X History and Civics textbook has been referred to
NCERT, New Delhi, for a decision. The textbook was
withdrawn last year after it was found containing several
errors.
