PANJIM: Goa government on Saturday rolled out the STEMI Goa project, a statewide programme for advanced diagnosis and care coordination for heart attacks.
The first of its kind in India, the project aims to enable rapid diagnosis of heart diseases in all government centres in Goa along with care coordination with a team of cardiologists at Goa Medical College.
Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, on inaugurating the project, said the STEMI Goa project has been deployed at 12 critical peripheral centres or ‘spokes’ where patients are diagnosed using a cloud connected to an ECG machine. “The project uses the most modern technology to provide complete solution to one of the most difficult health care challenges, enabling rapid diagnosis and treatment to all patients in Goa,” he said.
The team comprises physicians, medical officers, nurses, technicians and the ambulance teams from Valpoi, Mapusa, Chicaliim, Canacona, Curchorem, Ponda, Margao, Sanquelim, Dharbandora, Pernem, Panjim and Aldona have been trained to use the CardioNET.
Besides, it is integrated with EMRI-GVK ambulance service to transport patients from peripheral centres to the cath labs at GMC. The advanced CardioNET mobile net is powered by Tricog Health Services Pvt Ltd from Bangalore.
Health Secretary J Ashok Kumar said that with the launch of STEMI project Goa is stepping into a major milestone as far as health facilities are concerned.
