MAPUSA: The Mapusa Municipal Council is in a tight corner after the stenographer who was working at the civic body resigned after putting in ten years of service here. All the council meetings have now been postponed in the absence of a steno.
Contractual workers were also upset with the council as their services were not regularised after having worked here for years together.
Many workers have also quit their jobs here in frustration as their services were not regularised.
Five workers from the MMC which included a steno typist, a lawyer and 3 clerks resigned in haste.
Many resolutions to regularise the services of contract workers were placed at the council meetings but were rejected due sharp differences between ruling and opposition councillors, said the irate workers.
