PANJIM: Over three months after Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar announcement to award BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh with the chairmanship of Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), the legislator is still awaiting official approval for the same.
“There is no confirmation from the government as such… I am still waiting…I will not raise the issue as the announcement was made by chief minister himself,” Wagh, who is currently vice chairman of ESG told media persons on the sidelines of flag off of International Film Festival (IFFI) road show.
“Currently I am happy with what I have…I have no expectations,” he added when asked whether he had discussion with chief minister on the issue.
In July, on the occasion of Wagh’s birthday, Parrikar had announced to hand over ESG chairmanship to Wagh. The chief minister had said the appointment of Wagh would be done after a month or two, following the ‘modification of the framework’ of the ESG.
As per the Constitution of the ESG, the state Minister for Information and Publicity automatically becomes the chairman of the ESG. However, it would be interesting to see the development on the issue, considering the fact that Parrikar has handed over the ministry to Milind Naik, in the recent portfolio reshuffle.
