CUNCOLIM: There was commotion at the Cutbona jetty late Sunday evening over the allegedly illegal tapping of electricity for boat repair works.
Cuncolim police stated that a boat ‘Frank Rose’ was being repaired at the jetty, and while carrying out welding works, the workers had allegedly tapped electricity from the main power source. The other boat owners objected to the same, leading to tension in the area.
Cuncolim police, who visited the site later, asked the Electricity Department to verify that electricity had been tapped, while they verified the equipment used to repair the boat.
While the police carried out investigations, Cutbona Boat Owner Union President Savio D’Silva accused them of shielding the accused and going slow on the case.
