STONE HEARTED ‘PSYCHO’ SMASHES HEAD OF 5-YEAR-OLD IN VALPOI

Mine labourer kidnaps daughter of fellow worker, takes her to hilltop, smashes her head with a stone and leaves her in the bushes; girl critical, accused arrested

VALPOI: In a ghastly incident, a 23-year-old labourer Ramsevak Thakur smashed the head of the five-year-old daughter of a fellow laterite mine labourer Anil Lamani, with a stone, at Deulwada Morlem, Sattari. The accused has been arrested and confessed to the crime.

Valpoi Police Inspector Rahul Naik, told O Heraldo, described the accused as a ‘criminal psycho’ issues. Naik revealed that Thakur, fuelled by alcohol and lacking any clear motive, committed the heinous act impulsively.

The accused and the victim’s family resided in the same locality. The harrowing incident unfolded when the parents of the girl left her at home sleeping while they went out with their son. Unfortunately, they left the door open, providing an opportunity for the accused to perpetrate the crime.

Thakur confessed to deliberately taking the minor girl to a hilltop and assaulting her with a stone, causing severe injuries before abandoning her. The complaint, filed by the mother Sangita on February 13 at 3:12 am, prompted an extensive investigation by the police. The police formed several teams and investigated the case from various angles in order to identify the accused.

Several people were interrogated and combing and search operation of the entire area was conducted. Many suspicious peoples were interrogated and out of them, one suspected person who was a neighbour of the victim, confessed to the crime. The accused Thakur was arrested under Sections 363 and 307 of the IPC and Section 8 of the Goa Children’s Act.

Upon confession, the police swiftly located the injured girl concealed under bushes on the mountain top, rushing her to medical care.

The victim, originally from Bijapur, is currently hospitalised in critical condition at Goa Medical College, Bambolim, with external head injuries and excessive blood loss. Initial medical examinations suggest no sexual assault, but her condition remains precarious, with ongoing monitoring in the ICU. Official medical reports are pending.

The case was successfully detected by Rahul Naik, PI Valpoi Police, PSI Vishnu Jadhav, Head constables Zingu Gaonkar and Suhasbabu Gaonkar, police constables Govresh Naik, Prashant Sutar, Akash Thakur, Shankar Pednekar, Deva Gawade, Prassana Naik and Siddesh Gawas all staff of Valpoi Police Station under the overall supervision of Akshat Kaushal SP North Porvorim, IPS Sulekha Jagarwar, North Officer Porvorim and Sagar Ekoskar SDPO Bicholim.
