PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday urged Science and Technology Minister Michael Lobo to first consult the people before promising to shift the marina to his constituency.
AAP Calangute Zilla Parishad candidate Manuel Cardozo also cautioned Lobo that experimenting with the natural geography of Goa will have disastrous repercussions.
As the people of Nauxim have vehemently objected to the marina coming up in their village and even Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant taking cognisance of the objections, Lobo has suddenly suggested that it will be set up in his constituency.
While pointing out that people of Calangute and Candolim are suffering due to tourism, Cardozo advised Lobo not to overburden the suffering people with another project that has no benefit to the Goa or Goans under the guise of attracting tourists.
“Calangute and Candolim are reeling under the unplanned tourism development in the area as crime has taken centrestage with drug use being rampant and prostitution ruling the roost,” said Cardozo, cautioning that the Calangute and Candolim will be facing a doomsday if the marina is shifted there.
“People of Nauxim have objected to the setting up of marina in their village and any new policy or projects needs to be initiated only after due consultation with the public,” said AAP Soccorro ZP candidate Mario Cordeiro.
