PONDA: MGP Marcaim MLA Sudin Dhavalikar on Tuesday said that the BJP government should not fool Goans keeping an eye on the forthcoming Assembly elections by making various “popular” announcements.
Dhavalikar claimed that there are no chances of restarting of mining industry in the State by December and demanded instead of “fooling”, the government should explain to the people how it will restart mining
“The BJP government keeping an eye on the Assembly elections is making various announcements such as forming of mining corporation, tall promises of 10,000 jobs and assurances to restart sugar factory to the farmers etc.,” he said.
Dhavalikar said, “Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant should explain how the government will form the mining corporation and restart mining as the mineral ore extraction below three metres at ground belongs to the government while the surface rights rest with the land owners.”
“So far 4 lakh tonne mineral ore is extracted illegally and all the transporters and people from the mining belt know about this,” he claimed.
Dhavalikar also demanded that the government should visit flood-affected Usgao, Ganjem, Valpoi and various parts and sanction Rs 25 crore to Cyclone Tauktae victims and flood-affected people to construct their houses.
Dhavalikar also alleged Rs14 crore scam in the Sanjivani Sugar Factory since 2016 and demanded a CBI inquiry.
