PONDA: The Bokadbag Bandora locals presented a memorandum to Bandora Panchayat against illegal expansion of religious building behind the existing premises located at Ramnathi. The locals allege that massive hill cutting and levelling is going on for a long time without any legal permissions using heavy machineries and complained that a road is also being developed by encroaching the land of the locals.

The memorandum demanded that Bandora Panchayat put a stop immediately to this illegal activity.

Taking cognisance of complaint, Bandora Sarpanch Rajesh Naik issued a notice to religious Sanstha at Ramnathi asking to immediately stop the alleged illegal activities and also directed them to produce ownership documents, construction licence and permission from TCP within a period of seven days.

Addressing the media later, the locals said “not only trees are being cut, and a hill destroyed, but the work continues day and night and alleged that a local politician is supporting these illegalities.”

The agricultural land in front of building at Ramnathi is being destroyed by releasing sewage waste, the locals alleged.

The locals further alleged the religious sanstha is constructing building after buildings in Bandora Panchayat by purchasing fertile lands from landlords at huge rates and depriving the original ST communities from cultivating this land with variety of crops which they have been doing for centuries. Because of these buildings, Marcaim locals will face water and power shortages, said the locals.

The migrants settled in the area are provided voters cards, ration and Aadhaar cards, the locals alleged.
