PANJIM: The Deputy Collector in charge of the North Goa flying squad, on Friday ordered the immediate stoppage of hill cutting being carried out in property bearing Survey No. 132/1 near Western Club of Saligao.
The Deputy Collector also asked the persons concerned to explain, within three days from receipt of the order, why action should not be taken for restoration of the land.
The order stated that site was inspected and hill cutting was noticed in the property, that a retaining wall is being built and thereby prima facie the activity appears to have violated provisions of Section 17-A of the Town and Country Planning Act 1974 and other regulations.
The order also stated that if the persons fail to produce documents to the property, it will be presumed they are not in possession of the same and Town and Country Planning Department will take action towards restoration of the land and further action as deemed fit will be taken.
