CANACONA: In two separate incidents of fire reported in Canacona, a storeroom in Delem and a garage at Cola caught fire on Friday.
Sources at fire station said that a store room belonging to a resident of Delem near Mastimoll caught fire at around 8 am on Friday. All the items stored in the room which included firewood were reduced to ashes along with the rafters of the roof.
Timely intervention by fire crew managed to save a property of over Rs 1 lakh from getting destroyed added fire officials.
In another fire incident, a garage at Cola caught fire on the same day. It is believed that banana leaves came in contact with live overhead electric wires which caused sparks which fell on the garage leading to the fire.
The fire officials have put the loss in both the unfortunate incidents at over Rs 50,000.
The fire crew was led by leading fire fighter Ashok Desai, driver operator Ashok Gaonkar, fire fighters Prashant Velip, Paresh Bhagat and Anil Talponkar.
