MARGAO: Storm seems to be brewing against the construction of the western bypass six-lane road in Salcete with activists not only from Salcete but also from Agassaim and Canacona joining the movement to oppose the western bypass road through the green land.
Nearly 50-60 activists protested at the Navelim roads against the Western Bypass road construction. The activists have threatened to take law into their own hands if the government continues to force the western bypass by way of land filling, rather than building it on stilts.
There has been massive land filling through the green land for the western bypass road which the activists claim is a six-lane Mopa express highway.
Activists have also demanded that Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro now fulfill the promise of having the road on stilts as he had in his manifesto said so.
The activists allege that the road is being built without proper land acquisition and without proper environment assessment.
