MARGAO: The strained relations between Gaurav Katiyar and his wife Diksha Ganganwar, fueled by her suspicions of his alleged extra-marital affair with a woman from Chennai, is cited as one of the reasons behind her murder at Cabo de Rama on January 19. During police interrogation, Gaurav reportedly mentioned this strained relationship as a motive for the crime.
According to Cuncolim PI Diogo Gracias, statements and investigations indicate tension between the couple over various issues. Gaurav, who held a degree in
Hotel Management, allegedly felt that Diksha, an Arts graduate, was not suitable as his wife.
The night before the murder, a fight erupted between them in the rented premises. According to the police, Gaurav had threatened Diksha with divorce, to which she retorted with a threat to file a dowry harassment case against him.
The police are planning to record the statement of the woman from Chennai, which is expected to provide additional insights into the case. Meanwhile, Gaurav’s brother was questioned by the police, after which he left for Lucknow. The police believe they have almost established the motive for the murder based on Gaurav’s statements during interrogation.
