ARAMBOL: Congress General Secretary Pranav Parab has questioned the Arambol panchayat’s stance on stray cattle and stated stated that the bovines wander on the roads especially at nights and pose risk to the motorists.
“Many times motorists cannot distinguish between the colour of the road and of the cattle at night. It becomes even more difficult during the monsoon. The panchayat needs to conduct a survey and issue notices to the cattle owners and impound the strays,” said Parab.
Meanwhile, it may be recalled that the government had ordered every civic body in the State to construct cattle pounds.
The High Court too directed all civic bodies to have cattle pounds in their jurisdiction.
Sarpanch Bernard Fernandes said that the cattle pound is currently non operational.
