SANGUEM, SEPT 13
Stray cattle on almost all the major roads leading to Sanguem and Curchorem have been causing great hardship to motorists for the past many days.
A large number of cattle are seen occupying strategic locations at several places on the main road proceeding from Curchorem to Sanguem and also on the main road leading to Bhati, Uguem, Kalay and other villages from Sanguem town.
Incidentally, even the Sanguem town is not spared by the stray cattle menace and a large number of cattle are now seen occupying the road opposite to Government Sports Complex, Sanguem and near the Sanguem Court.
Besides, stray cattle also continue to haunt the internal roads in the municipal area.
A large number of cattle are basically seen at any given time at Cacora near Cacora Industrial Estate, Pajimol Junction and the one-km stretch of road from Pajimol to Uguem junction.
The use of the road is made all the more precarious during night when motorists find it difficult to spot cattle sitting on the main road in the absence of streetlights at many places.
The motorists have therefore urged for some action from the municipal and panchayat bodies to make the roads cattle-free to avoid any unforeseen eventuality from taking place.
