Stray dogs spoil kids play

Parents are worried about the dogs that loiter in the children’s park at the Botanical Garden, Selaulim Dam

The stray dogs menace in the children’s park at the Botanical Garden at Selaulim Dam has become a matter of concern to the parents who allow their children to play at the park.
For the past many days many stray dogs are found frequenting the children’s park. This has irked the parents and the children who use the park regularly, especially these days because of the summer holidays for schools.
The dogs are also found to be very aggressive in nature and come to attack the children if they get closer to them, say the parents.
There are over seven dogs which move in packs and are very irritating as the parents who come to pass their leisure time along with their children have to constantly keep a watch over their children for fear of the stray dogs attacking them.
Though no incident of dog bite is reported at present, fears are expressed of the dogs biting the children. Moreover the dogs are also found to be in their mating season and it becomes a bad sight for the parents to leave their children to play at the children’s park when the dogs are around in groups. The dogs are also found to be a nuisance when the families sit to eat in the open area.
Incidentally with the authorities charging entry fee for the visitors to the Dam and the children’s park, the visitors, particularly parents of minor children have urged the authorities to drive the stray dogs out of the botanical garden and make the children’s play area safe for the visitors to the Selaulim Dam.
